T.Rex

T.Rex

The Tyrannosaurus, translated to ‘Tyrant Lizard’ in Greek, was one of the largest known land predators of North America roughly 65 million years ago. Today a cult figure fondly known as T. Rex, this colossal carnivore is the subject of artist Nazarov’s sculptural work made of industrial scrap metal. This ribbed, crude expenditure of iron and copper – two substances Nazarov has welded together to form TRex’s backbone, a difficult feat by chemical standards – is a handcrafted emblem reflecting our cultural fascination with alchemy, paleontology and the mystique of ancient and prehistoric existence.
